My registration code doesn't work!
Tech Library Article #0001 + Created: 30 January 2001 + Modified: 11 October 2013

First off, we apologize.  No matter why you're not able to get your software working, we understand your frustration if you've just purchased some of our software, received a registration code, and are not able to get the software to accept the code. Below are some suggestions which we hope will help.

If these do not help, please contact us so that we can be of further assistance.

(1) Use copy and paste to make sure you're entering the code exactly as provided in the "Thanks For Your Purchase" email (generally sent by Kagi).  99% of the time this solves the problem.  The registration code must be entered exactly: capital letters, spaces, etc., all matter.

(2) Verify that you are using the correct code. In the "Thanks For Your Purchase" email you receive from Kagi, registration codes for the software will appear on two lines like this:

Name: Joseph Shareware Customer
Code: NNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN

The "Code:" line contains the registration code. The exact format of the registration code varies for the various programs.

(3) (an unlikely possibility) If you have Mac OS X 10.2 (Jaguar) and use Apple's Mail program for email, you may have trouble using copy and paste with registration codes. Mail adds an invisible character to the start of everything copied out of it in Mac OS X 10.2; this extra character can cause registration code checks (and password checks, etc.) to fail. So if you use Apple's Mail program in OS X 10.2, just type the code in, don't try to copy and paste it.

(4) (also unlikely) If you registered our Periodic Table software when it was version 1.0, 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 1.3.1, or 1.4, you need to request a new registration code for later (2.0 and higher) versions.  Please contact us with the name you registered the earlier version under, and we will email you a new code.
