6 September 2001  Version 3.0 of Periodic Table is released! This major upgrade to our popular and well-reviewed chemistry software adds four new datasets (electric dipole polarizability, magnetic susceptibility, linear expansion coefficient, and superconductivity critical temperature) and detailed etymology information (what the element name means), along with a better organized and more fact-packed element information screen. At this time, we are only posting the "classic" version for Mac OS 8 and 9. Version 2.6.2 is still available for Mac OS X users. And yes, version 3 for Mac OS X is on the way.... 7 May 2001  Version 2.6.2 of Periodic Table is released. Native Mac OS X version now available! Version 2.6.2 started as just some minor tweaks to get a version of Periodic Table for Mac OS X, but we've taken the opportunity to make lots of little interface improvements. We've tweaked many screen layouts and icons to look good in Mac OS X and Mac OS 8 or 9. There are now two versions: if you have Mac OS X, get Periodic Table X. Otherwise, download Periodic Table for Mac OS 8 or 9. The features are the same in both versions, but the Mac OS X version is tuned for the Aqua interface. There are a few new features, including group descriptions (e.g. halogens, noble gases, etc.) and better a dialog used for descriptions, history, isotopes, etc. And yes, there's a spiffy new icon, especially for those OS X users who need huge icons! (Free upgrade for currently registered users.)
